⁶ Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, ^(A)compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and ^[a]truth; ⁷ who ^(B)keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He ^(C)will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, ^(D)visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”

¹⁸ ‘^(A)The Lord is slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but ^(B)He will by no means clear the guilty, ^(C)visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children ^[a]to the third and the fourth generations.’

³³ Your sons shall be shepherds for ^(A)forty years in the wilderness, and they will ^[a]suffer for your ^[b]unfaithfulness, until your corpses ^[c]lie in the wilderness.

⁹ You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, ^(A)visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, ¹⁰ but ^(B)showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

²⁹ “Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the evil in his days, but I will bring the evil upon his house ^(A)in his son’s days.”

¹⁸ who ^(A)shows lovingkindness to thousands, but ^(B)repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them, O ^(C)great and ^(D)mighty God. The ^(E)Lord of hosts is His name;
