Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, (A)compassionate and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in faithfulness and [a]truth; who (B)keeps faithfulness for thousands, who forgives wrongdoing, violation of His Law, and sin; yet He (C)will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, (D)inflicting the [b]punishment of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.” And Moses hurried [c](E)to bow low toward the ground and worship.

And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.
