9 Burn only the proper incense on the altar and never use it for grain sacrifices or animal sacrifices or drink offerings. 10 (A) Once a year Aaron must purify the altar by smearing on its four corners[a] the blood of an animal sacrificed for sin, and this practice must always be followed. The altar is sacred because it is dedicated to me.

9 Do not offer on this altar any other incense(A) or any burnt offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it. 10 Once a year(B) Aaron shall make atonement(C) on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering[a](D) for the generations to come.(E) It is most holy to the Lord.”
