Then the Lord said, (A)“I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their (B)taskmasters. I know their sufferings, and (C)I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and (D)to bring them up out of that land to a (E)good and broad land, a land (F)flowing with milk and honey, to the place of (G)the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And now, behold, (H)the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the (I)oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 (J)Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

One of his disciples, (A)Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him, “There is a boy here who has five (B)barley loaves and two fish, but (C)what are they for so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” (D)Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, and (E)when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” 13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. 14 When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, (F)“This is indeed (G)the Prophet (H)who is to come into the world!”

Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother,(A) spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”(B)

10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks,(C) and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

14 After the people saw the sign(D) Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”(E)
