¹⁴ And God said to Moses, “^[a](A)I AM WHO ^[b]I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘^[c]I AM has sent me to you.’”

³ and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as ^[a](A)God Almighty, but by ^(B)My name, Yahweh, I was not known to them.

^5 (A)Then Yahweh descended in the cloud and stood there with him, and ^[a]He called upon the name of Yahweh. ⁶ Then Yahweh passed by in front of him and called out, “Yahweh, Yahweh God, ^(B)compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and ^[b]truth; ⁷ who ^(C)keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression, and sin; yet He ^(D)will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, ^(E)visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”
