³³ They must eat those things by which atonement was made at the time of their ordination^[a] and consecration. An unauthorized person must not eat^(A) them, for these things are holy.

³³ Anyone who blends something like it or puts some of it on an unauthorized person must be cut off^(A) from his people.”

¹⁰ You are to appoint Aaron and his sons to carry out their priestly responsibilities, but any unauthorized person who comes near the sanctuary is to be put to death.”^(A)

³⁸ Moses, Aaron, and his sons, who performed the duties of^[a] the sanctuary as a service on behalf of the Israelites, camped in front of the tabernacle on the east,^(A) in front of the tent of meeting toward the sunrise. Any unauthorized person who came near it was to be put to death.^(B)

⁴⁰ just as the Lord commanded him through Moses. It was to be a reminder for the Israelites that no unauthorized person outside the lineage of Aaron should approach to offer incense before the Lord^(A) and become like Korah and his followers.
