31 (A)You shall make the robe of the ephod entirely of [a]blue. 32 There shall be an opening [b]at its top in the middle of it; around the edge of its opening there shall be a binding of woven work, like the opening of a coat of mail, so that it will not be torn. 33 You shall make on its hem pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet material, all around on its hem, and bells of gold between them all around: 34 a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, all around on the hem of the robe. 35 It shall be on Aaron [c]when he ministers; and its sound shall be heard when he comes into the holy place before Yahweh and when he goes out, so that he will not die.

36 “You shall also make (B)a plate of pure gold and shall engrave on it, like the engravings of a signet, ‘(C)Holy to Yahweh.’ 37 You shall [d]fasten it on a [e]blue cord, and it shall be on the turban; it shall be at the front of the turban. 38 It shall be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall [f](D)take away the iniquity of the holy things which the sons of Israel set apart as holy, with regard to all their holy gifts; and it shall continually be on his forehead, that (E)they may be accepted before Yahweh.

39 “You shall weave (F)the tunic of checkered work of fine linen, and you shall make a turban of fine linen, and you shall make a sash, the work of a [g]weaver.

40 “For Aaron’s sons you shall make (G)tunics; you shall also make sashes for them, and you shall make [h](H)caps for them, for glory and for beauty. 41 You shall put them on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him; and you shall (I)anoint them and [i]ordain them and set them apart as holy, that they may minister to Me as priests. 42 You shall make for them (J)linen undergarments to cover their bare flesh; they shall [j]reach from the loins even to the thighs. 43 They shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they come into the tent of meeting or (K)when they approach the altar to minister in the holy place, so that they do not incur [k]guilt and die. (L)It shall be a perpetual statute to him and to his seed after him.

Other Priestly Garments(A)

31 “Make the robe of the ephod entirely of blue cloth, 32 with an opening for the head in its center. There shall be a woven edge like a collar[a] around this opening, so that it will not tear. 33 Make pomegranates(B) of blue, purple and scarlet yarn around the hem of the robe, with gold bells between them. 34 The gold bells and the pomegranates are to alternate around the hem of the robe. 35 Aaron must wear it when he ministers. The sound of the bells will be heard when he enters the Holy Place before the Lord and when he comes out, so that he will not die.

36 “Make a plate(C) of pure gold and engrave on it as on a seal: holy to the Lord.(D) 37 Fasten a blue cord to it to attach it to the turban; it is to be on the front of the turban. 38 It will be on Aaron’s forehead, and he will bear the guilt(E) involved in the sacred gifts the Israelites consecrate, whatever their gifts may be. It will be on Aaron’s forehead continually so that they will be acceptable(F) to the Lord.

39 “Weave the tunic(G) of fine linen and make the turban(H) of fine linen. The sash is to be the work of an embroiderer. 40 Make tunics, sashes and caps for Aaron’s sons(I) to give them dignity and honor.(J) 41 After you put these clothes(K) on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint(L) and ordain them. Consecrate them so they may serve me as priests.(M)

42 “Make linen undergarments(N) as a covering for the body, reaching from the waist to the thigh. 43 Aaron and his sons must wear them whenever they enter the tent of meeting(O) or approach the altar to minister in the Holy Place,(P) so that they will not incur guilt and die.(Q)

“This is to be a lasting ordinance(R) for Aaron and his descendants.
