Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders(A) of Israel went up 10 and saw(B) the God of Israel. Under his feet was something like a pavement made of lapis lazuli,(C) as bright blue as the sky.(D) 11 But God did not raise his hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw(E) God, and they ate and drank.(F)

12 The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone(G) with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”

13 Then Moses set out with Joshua(H) his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain(I) of God. 14 He said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur(J) are with you, and anyone involved in a dispute(K) can go to them.”

15 When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud(L) covered it, 16 and the glory(M) of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai.(N) For six days the cloud covered the mountain, and on the seventh day the Lord called to Moses from within the cloud.(O) 17 To the Israelites the glory of the Lord looked like a consuming fire(P) on top of the mountain. 18 Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty(Q) days and forty nights.(R)

9-11 Then they climbed the mountain—Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel—and saw the God of Israel. He was standing on a pavement of something like sapphires—pure, clear sky-blue. He didn’t hurt these pillar-leaders of the Israelites: They saw God; and they ate and drank.

12-13 God said to Moses, “Climb higher up the mountain and wait there for me; I’ll give you tablets of stone, the teachings and commandments that I’ve written to instruct them.” So Moses got up, accompanied by Joshua his aide. And Moses climbed up the mountain of God.

14 He told the elders of Israel, “Wait for us here until we return to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you; if there are any problems, go to them.”

15-17 Then Moses climbed the mountain. The Cloud covered the mountain. The Glory of God settled over Mount Sinai. The Cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day he called out of the Cloud to Moses. In the view of the Israelites below, the Glory of God looked like a raging fire at the top of the mountain.

18 Moses entered the middle of the Cloud and climbed the mountain. Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:

10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.

11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.

12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

13 And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God.

14 And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.

15 And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.

16 And the glory of the Lord abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

17 And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.

18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
