⁹ You must not oppress a resident alien;^(A) you yourselves know how it feels to be a resident alien because you were resident aliens in the land of Egypt.

³ Do not follow the practices of the land of Egypt,^(A) where you used to live, or follow the practices of the land of Canaan,^(B) where I am bringing you. You must not follow their customs.^(C)

¹⁹ You are also to love the resident alien, since you were resident aliens in the land of Egypt.^(A)

⁷ Do not despise an Edomite, because he is your brother. Do not despise an Egyptian, because you were a resident alien in his land.
