⁶ Then Yahweh passed by in front of him and called out, “Yahweh, Yahweh God, ^(A)compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and ^[a]truth; ⁷ who ^(B)keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression, and sin; yet He ^(C)will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, ^(D)visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”

⁹ You shall know therefore that Yahweh your God, ^(A)He is God, ^(B)the faithful God, ^(C)who keeps ^[a]His covenant and ^[b]His lovingkindness to a thousand generations with those who ^(D)love Him and keep His commandments;

² And he ^(A)prayed to Yahweh and said, “Ah! O Yahweh, was not this my word to myself while I was still in my own land? Therefore I went ahead to ^(B)flee to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a ^(C)gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning evil.
