⁷ maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin.^(A) But he will not leave the guilty^(B) unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.

¹⁸ The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in faithful love,^(A) forgiving iniquity and rebellion.^(B) But he will not leave the guilty unpunished,^(C) bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children to the third and fourth generation.^(D)

⁹ Know that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps his gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commands.^(A)
