22 The Lord told Moses to say to the people of Israel:

With your own eyes you saw me speak to you from heaven. 23 So you must never make idols of silver or gold to worship in place of me.[a]

24 Build an altar out of earth, and offer on it your sacrifices[b] of sheep, goats, and cattle. Wherever I choose to be worshiped, I will come down to bless you.

  2. 20.24 sacrifices: The Hebrew text mentions two types of sacrifices: Sacrifices to please the Lord (traditionally called “whole burnt offerings”) and sacrifices to ask the Lord's blessing (traditionally called “peace offerings”).

24 “‘Make an altar(D) of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings(E) and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name(F) to be honored, I will come to you and bless(G) you.
