God Hears Israel’s Groaning

²³ Now it happened in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel ^(A)sighed because of the slavery, and they cried out; and ^(B)their cry for help because of their slavery rose up to God.

⁹ So Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on ^(A)account of their weakness of spirit and ^[a]hard slavery.

¹⁵ that our fathers went down to Egypt, and we stayed in Egypt a long time, and the Egyptians treated us and our fathers badly.

¹⁹ It was he who ^(A)deceitfully took advantage of our family and mistreated our fathers to ^[a](B)set their infants outside so that they would not survive.
