Moses Flees to Midian

11 Now it happened in those days, (A)that Moses had grown up. And he went out to his brothers and looked on their [a](B)hard labors. And (C)he saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his brothers. 12 So he turned this way and that, and he saw that there was no one around. So he (D)struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 13 Then he went out (E)the next day, and behold, two Hebrews were struggling with each other; and he said to the [b]wicked one, “Why are you striking your companion?” 14 But he said, “(F)Who made you a [c]ruler or a judge over us? Are you [d]intending to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and said, “Surely the matter has become known.” 15 And Pharaoh heard of this matter, so he sought to kill Moses. But (G)Moses fled from the presence of Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian, and he [e]sat down (H)by a well.

Moses Flees to Midian

11 One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people(A) were and watched them at their hard labor.(B) He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. 12 Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 13 The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, “Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?”(C)

14 The man said, “Who made you ruler and judge over us?(D) Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “What I did must have become known.”

15 When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill(E) Moses, but Moses fled(F) from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian,(G) where he sat down by a well.
