¹⁸ Mount Sinai was covered with smoke,^(A) because the Lord descended on it in fire.^(B) The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace,^(C) and the whole mountain^[a] trembled^(D) violently.

⁴ So Moses chiseled^(A) out two stone tablets like the first ones and went up Mount Sinai early in the morning, as the Lord had commanded him; and he carried the two stone tablets in his hands.^(B)

The Radiant Face of Moses

²⁹ When Moses came down from Mount Sinai^(A) with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands,^(B) he was not aware that his face was radiant^(C) because he had spoken with the Lord.

¹⁵ So I turned and went down from the mountain while it was ablaze with fire. And the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.^(A)
