2 Moses had sent his wife Zipporah to Jethro, his father-in-law. 3 Moses had also sent his two sons. The first son was named Gershom.[a] When he was born, Moses said, “I am a stranger in a foreign country.” 4 The other son was named Eliezer.[b] When he was born, Moses said, “The God of my father is my help. He saved me from the king of Egypt.”

2 After Moses had sent away his wife Zipporah,(A) his father-in-law Jethro received her 3 and her two sons.(B) One son was named Gershom,[a] for Moses said, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land”;(C) 4 and the other was named Eliezer,[b](D) for he said, “My father’s God was my helper;(E) he saved me from the sword of Pharaoh.”
