5 The Lord said to Moses, “Walk out in front of the people. Take your staff, the one you used when you struck the water of the Nile, and call some of the elders of Israel to join you. 6 I will stand before you on the rock at Mount Sinai.[a] Strike the rock, and water will come gushing out. Then the people will be able to drink.” So Moses struck the rock as he was told, and water gushed out as the elders looked on.

Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff(A) with which you struck the Nile,(B) and go. 6 I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb.(C) Strike(D) the rock, and water(E) will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.
