¹⁰ So ^(A)Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and ^(B)Hur went up to the top of the hill. ¹¹ Whenever Moses ^(C)held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. ¹² But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and ^(D)Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. ¹³ And ^(E)Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword.

^6 (A)Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, ^7 (B)casting all your anxieties on him, because ^(C)he cares for you. ^8 (D)Be sober-minded; ^(E)be watchful. Your ^(F)adversary the devil ^(G)prowls around ^(H)like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. ^9 (I)Resist him, ^(J)firm in your faith, knowing that ^(K)the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. ¹⁰ And ^(L)after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, ^(M)who has called you to his ^(N)eternal glory in Christ, will himself ^(O)restore, ^(P)confirm, strengthen, and establish you. ^11 (Q)To him be the dominion forever and ever.
