Exodus 1:9-11

9 He said to his people, “Behold,[a] the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we. 10 Come, let’s deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it happen that when any war breaks out, they also join themselves to our enemies and fight against us, and escape out of the land.” 11 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. They built storage cities for Pharaoh: Pithom and Raamses.

9 “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous(A) for us.(B) 10 Come, we must deal shrewdly(C) with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.”(D)
11 So they put slave masters(E) over them to oppress them with forced labor,(F) and they built Pithom and Rameses(G) as store cities(H) for Pharaoh.
