¹¹ So they appointed ^(A)taskmasters over them to afflict them with ^[a](B)hard labor. And they built for Pharaoh ^(C)storage cities, Pithom and ^(D)Raamses.

¹³ The taskmasters pressed them, saying, “Complete your ^[a]work quota, ^[b]your daily amount, just as when ^[c]you had straw.” ¹⁴ Moreover, ^(A)the foremen of the sons of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, ^(B)were beaten ^[d]and were asked, “Why have you not completed your required amount either yesterday or today in making brick as previously?”
