Hinabol ng mga Egipcio ang mga Israelita
14 Sinabi ni Yahweh kay Moises, 2 “Pabalikin mo ang mga Israelita at doon mo sila pagkampuhin sa tapat ng Pi Hahirot, ng Baal-zefon, sa pagitan ng Migdol at ng dagat. 3 Aakalain ng Faraon na kayo'y nagkakaligaw-ligaw na sa ilang sapagkat hindi ninyo malaman ang lalabasan. 4 Pagmamatigasin ko ang Faraon at hahabulin niya kayo ngunit ipapakita ko sa kanya at sa kanyang mga tauhan ang aking kapangyarihan. Sa gayo'y malalaman ng mga Egipcio na ako si Yahweh.” Sinunod ng mga Israelita ang sinabi sa kanila.
5 Nang makarating sa Faraon ang balita tungkol sa pag-alis ng mga Israelita, nagbago siya ng isip, pati ang kanyang mga tauhan. Sinabi nila, “Bakit natin pinayagang umalis ang mga Israelita? Wala na ngayong maglilingkod sa atin!” 6 Ipinahanda ng Faraon ang kanyang mga karwaheng pandigma at ang kanyang mga kawal. 7 Ang dala niya'y animnaraang pangunahing karwaheng pandigma, kasama rin ang lahat ng karwahe sa buong Egipto; bawat isa'y may sakay na punong kawal. 8 Pinagmatigas ni Yahweh ang Faraon at hinabol nito ang mga Israelita na noo'y buong pagtitiwalang naglalakbay.[a] 9 Hinabol nga sila ng mga Egipcio, ng mga kawal ng Faraon, sakay ng kanilang karwahe. Inabot nila ang mga Israelita, sa tabing dagat, malapit sa Pi Hahirot sa tapat ng Baal-zefon.
10 Matinding takot ang naramdaman ng mga Israelita nang makita nilang dumarating ang Faraon at ang mga Egipcio. Kaya, dumaing sila kay Yahweh. 11 Sinabi nila kay Moises, “Wala na bang mapaglilibingan sa amin sa Egipto kaya mo kami dinala sa ilang para dito mamatay? Inilabas mo nga kami sa Egipto, ngunit tingnan mo ang nangyari! 12 Hindi ba't bago tayo umalis, sinabi na namin sa iyo na ganito nga ang aming sasapitin? Sinabi na namin sa iyo na huwag mo kaming pakialaman, at pabayaan na lamang kaming manatiling alipin ng mga Egipcio sapagkat mas gusto pa naming maging alipin kaysa mamatay dito sa ilang.”
13 Sumagot si Moises, “Lakasan ninyo ang inyong loob; huwag kayong matakot. Tingnan na lang ninyo kung paano kayo ililigtas ngayon ni Yahweh. Hindi na ninyo muling makikita ang mga Egipciong iyan. 14 Ipagtatanggol kayo ni Yahweh, pumanatag lamang kayo.”
Ang Pagtawid sa Dagat na Pula
15 Sinabi ni Yahweh kay Moises, “Bakit mo ako tinatawag? Palakarin mo ang mga Israelita. 16 Itapat mo sa ibabaw ng dagat ang iyong tungkod; mahahati ang tubig at matutuyo ang lalakaran ninyo. 17 Lalo kong pagmamatigasin ang mga Egipcio at pasusundan ko kayo sa kanila, ngunit doon ko sila lilipulin: ang mga Egipcio, ang mga kawal ng Faraon, pati ang kanilang mga karwahe. Ipapakita ko sa Faraon at sa kanyang hukbo ang aking kapangyarihan. 18 Sa gayon, malalaman ng mga Egipciong iyan na ako si Yahweh.”
19 Ang anghel ng Diyos na pumapatnubay sa paglalakbay ng mga Israelita ay nagpahuli sa kanila, gayundin ang haliging ulap. 20 Ang ulap ay lumagay sa pagitan ng mga Israelita at ng mga Egipcio. Madilim sa panig ng mga Egipcio, maliwanag naman sa mga Israelita. Dumating ang gabi at ang mga Egipcio ay hindi makalapit sa mga Israelita.
21 Itinapat ni Moises ang kanyang tungkod sa ibabaw ng dagat. Magdamag na pinaihip ni Yahweh ang isang malakas na hangin mula sa silangan at nahati ang tubig. 22 Ang(A) mga Israelita'y tumawid sa dagat na ang nilakara'y tuyong lupa, sa pagitan ng tubig na parang pader. 23 Hinabol sila ng mga Egipcio hanggang sa dagat. Ang mga ito'y mga kawal ng Faraon na nakasakay sa mga karwahe at mga kabayo. 24 Nang magbubukang-liwayway na, ang mga Egipcio'y ginulo ni Yahweh mula sa haliging apoy at ulap. 25 Napabaon[b] ang gulong ng mga karwahe at hindi na sila makahabol nang matulin. Kaya sinabi nila, “Umalis na tayo rito sapagkat si Yahweh na ang kalaban natin.”
26 Sinabi ni Yahweh kay Moises, “Itapat mo ang iyong tungkod sa ibabaw ng dagat at tatabunan ng tubig ang mga Egipcio pati ang kanilang mga karwahe.” 27 Ganoon nga ang ginawa ni Moises, at sa pagbubukang-liwayway, nanumbalik sa dati ang dagat. Ang mga Egipcio'y nagsikap makatakas ngunit pinalakas ni Yahweh ang pagdagsa ng tubig kaya't nalunod silang lahat. 28 Nang bumalik sa dati ang dagat, natabunan ang mga karwahe't kabayo ng Faraon, pati ang kanyang buong hukbo at wala ni isa mang natira. 29 Ngunit ang mga Israelita'y nakatawid sa dagat, na tuyong lupa ang dinaanan, sa pagitan ng tubig na parang pader.
30 Nang araw na iyon ang mga Israelita'y iniligtas ni Yahweh sa mga Egipcio; nakita nila ang bangkay ng mga Egipcio, nagkalat sa tabing dagat. 31 Dahil sa kapangyarihang ipinakita ni Yahweh laban sa mga Egipcio, nagkaroon sila ng takot sa kanya at sumampalataya sila sa kanya at sa lingkod niyang si Moises.

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol(A) and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon.(B) 3 Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.’ 4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart,(C) and he will pursue them.(D) But I will gain glory(E) for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.”(F) So the Israelites did this.
5 When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled,(G) Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds(H) about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!” 6 So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him. 7 He took six hundred of the best chariots,(I) along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them. 8 The Lord hardened the heart(J) of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly.(K) 9 The Egyptians—all Pharaoh’s horses(L) and chariots, horsemen[a] and troops(M)—pursued the Israelites and overtook(N) them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon.(O)
10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried(P) out to the Lord. 11 They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die?(Q) What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”(R)
13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid.(S) Stand firm and you will see(T) the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see(U) again. 14 The Lord will fight(V) for you; you need only to be still.”(W)
15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me?(X) Tell the Israelites to move on. 16 Raise your staff(Y) and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water(Z) so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. 17 I will harden the hearts(AA) of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them.(AB) And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. 18 The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord(AC) when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.”
19 Then the angel of God,(AD) who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud(AE) also moved from in front and stood behind(AF) them, 20 coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness(AG) to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand(AH) over the sea,(AI) and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind(AJ) and turned it into dry land.(AK) The waters were divided,(AL) 22 and the Israelites went through the sea(AM) on dry ground,(AN) with a wall(AO) of water on their right and on their left.
23 The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen(AP) followed them into the sea. 24 During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud(AQ) at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion.(AR) 25 He jammed[b] the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting(AS) for them against Egypt.”(AT)
26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” 27 Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place.(AU) The Egyptians were fleeing toward[c] it, and the Lord swept them into the sea.(AV) 28 The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea.(AW) Not one of them survived.(AX)
29 But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground,(AY) with a wall(AZ) of water on their right and on their left. 30 That day the Lord saved(BA) Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. 31 And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand(BB) of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared(BC) the Lord and put their trust(BD) in him and in Moses his servant.

Crossing the Red Sea
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the people of Israel to (A)turn back and encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between (B)Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by the sea. 3 For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’ 4 And (C)I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them, and I will (D)get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, (E)and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
5 When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the (F)mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” 6 So he made ready his chariot and took his army with him, 7 and took (G)six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them. 8 And (H)the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the people of Israel while (I)the people of Israel were going out defiantly. 9 The (J)Egyptians pursued them, all Pharaoh's horses and chariots and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them (K)encamped at the sea, by Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.
10 When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel (L)cried out to the Lord. 11 They (M)said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Is not this what (N)we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.” 13 And Moses said to the people, (O)“Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For (P)the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. 14 (Q)The Lord will fight for you, and you have only (R)to be silent.”
15 The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. 16 (S)Lift up your staff, and (T)stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground. 17 And (U)I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and (V)I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. 18 And the Egyptians (W)shall know that I am the Lord, (X)when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”
19 (Y)Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, 20 coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night[a] without one coming near the other all night.
21 Then Moses (Z)stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by (AA)a strong east wind all night and (AB)made the sea dry land, and the waters were (AC)divided. 22 And (AD)the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being (AE)a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 23 The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24 And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, 25 clogging[b] their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the (AF)Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”
26 Then the Lord said to Moses, (AG)“Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” 27 (AH)So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea (AI)returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord (AJ)threw[c] the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. 28 The (AK)waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, (AL)not one of them remained. 29 But the (AM)people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
30 Thus the Lord (AN)saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 (AO)Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they (AP)believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.
