5 之后，摩西和亚伦去见法老，对他说：“以色列的上帝耶和华说，‘放我的子民走，让他们到旷野去为我守节期。’” 2 法老说：“耶和华是谁？我凭什么要听从祂，放走以色列人？我不认识祂，也不会让以色列人离开！” 3 摩西和亚伦说：“希伯来人的上帝向我们显现了。求你容我们走三天的路程，到旷野去向我们的上帝耶和华献祭，请你让我们去吧，免得祂用刀剑、瘟疫来攻击我们。” 4 埃及王说：“摩西、亚伦，你们竟敢煽动百姓旷工！快回去工作！” 5 法老又说：“这地方的以色列人如此众多，你竟叫他们停止工作！” 6 当天，法老就对埃及监工和以色列人的工头下令： 7 “从今天开始，不许再供应草给他们制砖，叫他们自己去捡， 8 但上交的砖的数量要和往常一样，一块也不可少。因为他们懒惰，所以才嚷着要去给他们的上帝献祭。 9 你们要加重他们的工作，他们就无暇再听那些蛊惑人心的话了！”
10 于是，那些监工和工头就出来向百姓宣布：“法老下令不再供应草给你们制砖。 11 你们要自己设法去找，但上交的砖一块也不能少。” 12 百姓只好在埃及全国收集碎禾秸当草用。 13 监工催逼他们说：“你们要完成每天规定的数目，像从前有草时一样。” 14 他们又鞭打以色列人的工头，说：“你们这两天为什么没有像从前一样完成规定的砖数？”
15 以色列人的工头来见法老，向他哀求说：“你为什么要这样对待仆人们？ 16 监工不给仆人们草，却命令我们做砖，还打我们，其实是你百姓的错。” 17 法老说：“你们是懒惰的人，懒惰的人！所以才嚷着要去给耶和华献祭。 18 回去继续工作！我不再供应草给你们，但砖要如数交齐。” 19 以色列人的工头听见每天做的砖数不可减少，就知道情况不妙。 20 他们从法老那里出来的时候，遇见摩西和亚伦站在外面等候， 21 便埋怨二人说：“愿耶和华鉴察、惩罚你们！你们使我们在法老和他的臣仆面前有了臭名，使他们有借口来杀我们。”
22 摩西回到耶和华那里说：“主啊！你为什么这样苦待你的子民呢？为什么要派我去呢？ 23 自从我去法老那里奉你的名发言后，他更加虐待你的子民，你并没有拯救他们。”

Moïse et Aaron devant le pharaon
5 Après cela, Moïse et Aaron se rendirent auprès du pharaon et lui dirent : Voici ce que dit l’Eternel, le Dieu d’Israël : « Laisse aller mon peuple pour qu’il célèbre une fête en mon honneur dans le désert. »
2 Le pharaon répondit : Qui est l’Eternel, pour que je lui obéisse en laissant partir d’ici les Israélites ? Je ne le connais pas, aussi ne les laisserai-je pas partir.
3 Ils reprirent : Le Dieu des Hébreux nous est apparu. Permets-nous donc d’aller à trois journées de marche dans le désert[a] pour offrir des sacrifices à l’Eternel, notre Dieu, pour qu’il ne nous frappe pas par une épidémie ou par la guerre.
4 Mais le pharaon leur répliqua : Moïse et Aaron, pourquoi détournez-vous le peuple de ses travaux ? Retournez à vos corvées ! 5 Il ajouta : Ces gens sont maintenant très nombreux dans le pays. Et vous voudriez leur faire interrompre leurs corvées !
L’oppression se fait encore plus dure
6 Ce même jour, le pharaon donna aux chefs de corvées et aux surveillants[b] du peuple l’ordre suivant : 7 Vous ne fournirez plus de paille aux gens de ce peuple pour confectionner des briques, comme on l’a fait jusqu’ici ; ils iront eux-mêmes ramasser la paille nécessaire[c]. 8 Vous exigerez d’eux la même quantité de briques qu’auparavant, pas une de moins, car ce sont des fainéants ; c’est pour cela qu’ils crient : Allons offrir des sacrifices à notre Dieu. 9 Ecrasez-les de travaux, qu’ils aient de quoi s’occuper, et ils ne prêteront plus attention à des paroles mensongères.
10 Les chefs de corvées et les surveillants sortirent et allèrent informer le peuple en disant : Le pharaon a déclaré qu’il ne vous fournira plus de paille. 11 Allez donc vous-mêmes vous en procurer là où vous en trouverez ! Et la production qui vous est imposée n’en sera pas réduite pour autant.
12 Le peuple se répandit dans tout le pays pour ramasser du chaume en guise de paille. 13 Les chefs de corvées les harcelaient : Finissez la quantité exigée pour chaque jour, comme lorsque la paille vous était fournie !
14 Et les chefs de corvées du pharaon se mirent à frapper les surveillants des Israélites qu’ils avaient établis sur eux en leur demandant : Pourquoi n’avez-vous pas fourni ces jours-ci la même quantité de briques qu’auparavant ?
15 Les surveillants des Israélites allèrent se plaindre au pharaon et lui demandèrent : Pourquoi agis-tu ainsi envers tes serviteurs ? 16 On ne fournit plus de paille à tes serviteurs et on nous dit : « Faites des briques ! » A présent, tes serviteurs sont battus. Ce que font tes gens est injuste !
17 Le pharaon répliqua : Vous êtes des fainéants, oui, des fainéants ! Voilà pourquoi vous dites : « Allons offrir des sacrifices à l’Eternel. » 18 Maintenant : Allez travailler ! On ne vous fournira plus de paille, mais vous livrerez la quantité de briques qui vous a été imposée.
19 Les surveillants des Israélites se virent dans une très mauvaise situation puisqu’on refusait de leur réduire la quantité de briques à livrer chaque jour. 20 En sortant de chez le pharaon, ils s’en prirent à Moïse et Aaron qui les attendaient, 21 et ils leur dirent : Que l’Eternel constate ce que vous avez fait et en soit juge ! A cause de vous, le pharaon et ses gens ne peuvent plus nous supporter. Vous leur avez mis l’épée en mains pour nous tuer !
22 Alors Moïse se tourna vers l’Eternel et lui dit : O Seigneur ! Pourquoi fais-tu du mal à ce peuple ? Pourquoi donc m’as-tu envoyé ici ? 23 Depuis que je suis venu trouver le pharaon pour lui parler en ton nom, il a maltraité ce peuple, et toi tu n’as rien fait pour délivrer ton peuple !

5 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go.
3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the Lord our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.
5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.
6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
10 And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.
11 Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.
12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.
13 And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.
14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?
15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?
16 There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.
17 But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the Lord.
18 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.
19 And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.
20 And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:
21 And they said unto them, The Lord look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.
22 And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?
23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.

5 DESPUÉS entraron Moisés y Aarón á Faraón, y le dijeron: Jehová, el Dios de Israel, dice así: Deja ir á mi pueblo á celebrarme fiesta en el desierto.
2 Y Faraón respondió: ¿Quién es Jehová, para que yo oiga su voz y deje ir á Israel? Yo no conozco á Jehová, ni tampoco dejaré ir á Israel.
3 Y ellos dijeron: El Dios de los Hebreos nos ha encontrado: iremos, pues, ahora camino de tres días por el desierto, y sacrificaremos á Jehová nuestro Dios; porque no venga sobre nosotros con pestilencia ó con espada.
4 Entonces el rey de Egipto les dijo: Moisés y Aarón, ¿por qué hacéis cesar al pueblo de su obra? idos á vuestros cargos.
5 Dijo también Faraón: He aquí el pueblo de la tierra es ahora mucho, y vosotros les hacéis cesar de sus cargos.
6 Y mandó Faraón aquel mismo día á los cuadrilleros del pueblo que le tenían á su cargo, y á sus gobernadores, diciendo:
7 De aquí adelante no daréis paja al pueblo para hacer ladrillo, como ayer y antes de ayer; vayan ellos y recojan por sí mismos la paja:
8 Y habéis de ponerles la tarea del ladrillo que hacían antes, y no les disminuiréis nada; porque están ociosos, y por eso levantan la voz diciendo: Vamos y sacrificaremos á nuestro Dios.
9 Agrávese la servidumbre sobre ellos, para que se ocupen en ella, y no atiendan á palabras de mentira.
10 Y saliendo los cuadrilleros del pueblo y sus gobernadores, hablaron al pueblo, diciendo: Así ha dicho Faraón: Yo no os doy paja.
11 Id vosotros, y recoged paja donde la hallareis; que nada se disminuirá de vuestra tarea.
12 Entonces el pueblo se derramó por toda la tierra de Egipto á coger rastrojo en lugar de paja.
13 Y los cuadrilleros los apremiaban, diciendo: Acabad vuestra obra, la tarea del día en su día, como cuando se os daba paja.
14 Y azotaban á los capataces de los hijos de Israel, que los cuadrilleros de Faraón habían puesto sobre ellos, diciendo: ¿Por qué no habéis cumplido vuestra tarea de ladrillo ni ayer ni hoy, como antes?
15 Y los capataces de los hijos de Israel vinieron á Faraón, y se quejaron á él, diciendo: ¿Por qué lo haces así con tus siervos?
16 No se da paja á tus siervos, y con todo nos dicen: Haced el ladrillo. Y he aquí tus siervos son azotados, y tu pueblo cae en falta.
17 Y él respondió: Estáis ociosos, sí, ociosos, y por eso decís: Vamos y sacrifiquemos á Jehová.
18 Id pues ahora, y trabajad. No se os dará paja, y habéis de dar la tarea del ladrillo.
19 Entonces los capataces de los hijos de Israel se vieron en aflicción, habiéndoseles dicho: No se disminuirá nada de vuestro ladrillo, de la tarea de cada día.
20 Y encontrando á Moisés y á Aarón, que estaban á la vista de ellos cuando salían de Faraón,
21 Dijéronles: Mire Jehová sobre vosotros, y juzgue; pues habéis hecho heder nuestro olor delante de Faraón y de sus siervos, dándoles el cuchillo en las manos para que nos maten.
22 Entonces Moisés se volvió á Jehová, y dijo: Señor, ¿por qué afliges á este pueblo? ¿para qué me enviaste?
23 Porque desde que yo vine á Faraón para hablarle en tu nombre, ha afligido á este pueblo; y tú tampoco has librado á tu pueblo.

Sina Moises at Aaron sa Harapan ng Faraon
5 Pagkatapos nito, nagpunta sa Faraon sina Moises at Aaron. Sinabi nila, “Ipinapasabi ni Yahweh, ang Diyos ng Israel, na payagan ninyong pumunta sa ilang ang kanyang bayang Israel upang magpista bilang parangal sa kanya.”
2 “Sinong Yahweh? Sino siyang mag-uutos sa akin na payagan kong umalis ang mga Israelita? Wala akong kilalang Yahweh. Hindi! Hindi ko papayagang umalis ang mga Israelita,” sagot ng Faraon.
3 Sinabi nila, “Nagpakita po sa amin ang Diyos naming mga Hebreo kaya isinasamo naming payagan na ninyo kaming maglakbay nang tatlong araw papunta sa ilang upang maghandog kay Yahweh na aming Diyos. Kung hindi, lilipulin niya kami sa pamamagitan ng sakit o digmaan.”
4 Sinabi ng hari ng Egipto kina Moises at Aaron, “At bakit ninyo ilalayo ang mga tao sa kanilang trabaho? Bumalik kayo ngayon din sa inyong mga trabaho. 5 Mas marami na nga ang mga Hebreo kaysa mga Egipcio, nais pa ninyong tumigil sa pagtatrabaho?” sabi sa kanila ng Faraon.
6 Nang araw ding iyon, ipinatawag ng Faraon ang mga tagapangasiwang Egipcio at ang mga kapatas na Israelita. Sinabi niya, 7 “Huwag na ninyo silang bibigyan ng dayaming ginagamit sa paggawa ng tisa. Hayaan ninyong sila ang manguha ng gagamitin nila. 8 At ang dami ng gagawin nila ay tulad din ng dati; huwag babawasan kahit isa. Tinatamad lang ang mga iyan kaya nagpapaalam na maghandog sa kanilang Diyos. 9 Lalo ninyong damihan ang kanilang gawain at lalo silang higpitan sa pagtatrabaho para hindi sila makapakinig ng kung anu-anong kasinungalingan.”
10 Pagkasabi nito ng Faraon, lumakad ang mga tagapangasiwang Egipcio at ang mga kapatas. Sinabi nila sa mga tao, “Ipinapasabi ng Faraon na hindi na kayo bibigyan ng dayami. 11 Kayo na ang bahalang manguha ng kailangan ninyo kung saan mayroon, at ang tisang gagawin ninyo araw-araw ay sindami rin ng dati.” 12 Ginalugad ng mga Israelita ang buong Egipto sa paghahanap ng dayami. 13 Sila'y inaapura ng mga tagapangasiwa at pilit na pinagagawa ng tisang sindami rin noong sila'y binibigyan pa ng dayami. 14 Kapag kulang ang kanilang nagawa, ang mga kapatas na Israelita ay binubugbog ng mga tagapangasiwa, at tinatanong: “Bakit kakaunti ang nagawa ninyo ngayon?”
15 Dahil dito, pumunta sa Faraon ang mga kapatas at nagreklamo, “Bakit po naman ninyo kami ginaganito? 16 Pinagagawa pa po kami ng tisa ngunit hindi na binibigyan ng dayami. At ngayon po'y binubugbog pa kami, gayong ang mga tauhan ninyo ang may pagkukulang!”
17 Sinabi ng Faraon, “Mga batugan! Tinatamad lang kayo kaya ninyo hinihiling sa akin na payagan kayong maghandog kay Yahweh. 18 Sige, magbalik na kayo sa inyong trabaho. Hindi kayo bibigyan ng dayami, at ang gagawin ninyong tisa ay sindami pa rin ng dati ninyong ginagawa.”
19 Nakita ng mga kapatas ang hirap ng kanilang katayuan nang sabihin sa kanilang sindami rin ng dati ang kanilang gagawin. 20 Pag-uwi nila mula sa pakikipag-usap sa Faraon, nakita nila sa daan sina Moises at Aaron na naghihintay sa kanila. 21 Sinabi nila sa dalawa, “Parusahan sana kayo ni Yahweh. Dahil sa ginawa ninyong ito, nagalit sa amin ang Faraon at ang mga tauhan niya. Binigyan pa ninyo sila ng dahilang patayin kami.”
Nanalangin si Moises
22 Kaya, nanalangin si Moises, “Yahweh, bakit po ninyo pinahihirapan ng ganito ang inyong bayan? Bakit pa ninyo ako sinugo kung ganito rin lamang ang mangyayari? 23 Mula nang makipag-usap ako sa Faraon ay lalo niyang pinahirapan ang inyong bayan, ngunit wala kayong ginagawa upang tulungan sila.”
