11 L'Éternel dit à Moïse: Je ferai venir encore une plaie sur Pharaon et sur l'Égypte. Après cela, il vous laissera partir d'ici. Lorsqu'il vous laissera tout à fait aller, il vous chassera même d'ici.
2 Parle au peuple, pour que chacun demande à son voisin et chacune à sa voisine des vases d'argent et des vases d'or.
3 L'Éternel fit trouver grâce au peuple aux yeux des Égyptiens; Moïse lui-même était très considéré dans le pays d'Égypte, aux yeux des serviteurs de Pharaon et aux yeux du peuple.
4 Moïse dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Vers le milieu de la nuit, je passerai au travers de l'Égypte;
5 et tous les premiers-nés mourront dans le pays d'Égypte, depuis le premier-né de Pharaon assis sur son trône, jusqu'au premier-né de la servante qui est derrière la meule, et jusqu'à tous les premiers-nés des animaux.
6 Il y aura dans tout le pays d'Égypte de grands cris, tels qu'il n'y en a point eu et qu'il n'y en aura plus de semblables.
7 Mais parmi tous les enfants d'Israël, depuis les hommes jusqu'aux animaux, pas même un chien ne remuera sa langue, afin que vous sachiez quelle différence l'Éternel fait entre l'Égypte et Israël.
8 Alors tous tes serviteurs que voici descendront vers moi et se prosterneront devant moi, en disant: Sors, toi et tout le peuple qui s'attache à tes pas! Après cela, je sortirai. Moïse sortit de chez Pharaon, dans une ardente colère.
9 L'Éternel dit à Moïse: Pharaon ne vous écoutera point, afin que mes miracles se multiplient dans le pays d'Égypte.
10 Moïse et Aaron firent tous ces miracles devant Pharaon, et ne Pharaon ne laissa point aller les enfants d'Israël hors de son pays.

The Tenth Plague: Death of the Firstborn
11 The Lord said[a] to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here. When he lets you go,[b] he will drive you out of here. 2 Now announce to the people that both men and women should ask their neighbors for silver and gold jewelry.” 3 The Lord gave[c] the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. And the man Moses was highly regarded[d] in the land of Egypt by[e] Pharaoh’s officials and the people.(A)
4 So Moses said, “This is what Yahweh says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt, 5 and every firstborn male in the land of Egypt will die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne to the firstborn of the servant girl who is behind the millstones, as well as every firstborn of the livestock. 6 Then there will be a great cry of anguish through all the land of Egypt such as never was before, or ever will be again. 7 But against all the Israelites, whether man or beast, not even a dog will snarl,[f] so that you may know that Yahweh makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel. 8 All these officials of yours will come down to me and bow before me, saying: Leave, you and all the people who follow you.[g] After that, I will leave.’” And he left Pharaoh’s presence in fierce anger.(B)
9 The Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen(C) to you, so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” 10 Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, but the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart,(D) and he would not let the Israelites go out of his land.

11 1 God promiseth their departure. 2 He willeth them to borrow their neighbors’ jewels. 3 Moses was esteemed of all save Pharaoh.
1 Now the Lord had said unto Moses, yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt, after that, he will let you go hence: when he letteth you go, he shall [a]at once chase you hence.
2 Speak thou now to the people, that every man [b]require of his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, (A)jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.
3 And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians: also Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.
4 And Moses said, Thus saith the Lord, (B)About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt.
5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth on his throne, unto the firstborn of the maid servant, that is at [c]the mill, and all the firstborn of beasts.
6 Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was never none like, nor shall be.
7 But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move his tongue, neither against man nor beast, that ye may know that the Lord putteth a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
8 And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and fall before me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that [d]are at thy feet, and after this will I depart. So he went out from Pharaoh very angry.
9 And the Lord said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hear you, [e]that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
10 So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: but the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he suffered not the children of Israel to go out of his land.
