7 En Mozes noemde die plaats Massa (= 'uitdaging') en Meriba (= 'ruzie'), omdat de Israëlieten daar ruzie met hem hadden gemaakt en omdat ze de Heer hadden uitgedaagd. Want ze hadden gezegd: 'We willen weten of de Heer nog bij ons is of niet!'
