⁶ then his master shall bring him to ^(A)God, and he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall be his slave forever.

¹⁷ then you shall take an awl, and put it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your slave^[a] forever. And to your female slave^[b] you shall do the same.

³¹ Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground and paid homage to the king and said, ^(A)“May my lord King David live forever!”

³ I said to the king, ^(A)“Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, ^(B)when the city, the place of my fathers' graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”
