Cântarea de laudă
15 Atunci(A), Moise şi copiii lui Israel au cântat Domnului cântarea aceasta. Ei au zis:
„Voi cânta(B) Domnului, căci Şi-a arătat slava:
A năpustit în mare pe cal şi pe călăreţ.
2 Domnul este tăria mea şi temeiul cântărilor mele de(C) laudă:
El m-a scăpat.
El este Dumnezeul meu: pe El Îl voi lăuda.
El este Dumnezeul tatălui(D) meu: pe El Îl voi(E) preamări.
3 Domnul este un războinic(F) viteaz:
Numele(G) Lui este Domnul.
4 El a aruncat în mare carele(H) lui Faraon şi oastea lui;
Luptătorii lui aleşi(I) au fost înghiţiţi în Marea Roşie.
5 I-au acoperit(J) valurile
Şi s-au pogorât(K) în fundul apelor, ca o piatră.
6 Dreapta(L) Ta, Doamne, şi-a făcut vestită tăria;
Mâna Ta cea dreaptă, Doamne, a zdrobit pe vrăjmaşi.
7 Prin mărimea măreţiei(M) Tale,
Tu trânteşti la pământ pe vrăjmaşii Tăi;
Îţi dezlănţui mânia
Şi ea-i mistuie(N) ca pe(O) o trestie.
8 La suflarea(P) nărilor Tale, s-au îngrămădit apele,
S-au ridicat talazurile(Q) ca un zid
Şi s-au închegat valurile în mijlocul mării.
9 Vrăjmaşul(R) zicea: ‘Îi voi urmări, îi voi ajunge,
Voi împărţi(S) prada de război;
Îmi voi răzbuna pe ei,
Voi scoate sabia şi-i voi nimici cu mâna mea!’
10 Dar Tu ai(T) suflat cu suflarea Ta
Şi marea(U) i-a acoperit;
Ca plumbul s-au afundat
În adâncimea apelor.
11 Cine(V) este ca Tine între dumnezei, Doamne?
Cine este ca Tine minunat(W) în sfinţenie,
Bogat în fapte de laudă
Şi făcător(X) de minuni?
12 Tu Ţi-ai întins mâna(Y) dreaptă,
Şi i-a înghiţit pământul.
13 Prin îndurarea Ta, Tu ai(Z) călăuzit
Şi ai izbăvit pe poporul acesta,
Iar prin puterea Ta îl îndrepţi
Spre(AA) locaşul sfinţeniei Tale.
14 Popoarele(AB) vor afla lucrul acesta şi se vor cutremura:
Apucă groaza(AC) pe filisteni,
15 Se înspăimântă(AD) căpeteniile(AE) Edomului
Şi un tremur apucă pe(AF) războinicii lui Moab.
Toţi(AG) locuitorii Canaanului leşină de la inimă.
16 Îi va apuca(AH) teama şi spaima;
Iar văzând măreţia braţului Tău,
Vor sta muţi ca(AI) o piatră,
Până va trece poporul Tău, Doamne!
Până va trece
Poporul, pe care Ţi l-ai(AJ) răscumpărat.
17 Tu îi vei aduce şi-i vei aşeza(AK) pe muntele moştenirii Tale,
În locul pe care Ţi l-ai pregătit ca locaş, Doamne,
La Templul(AL) pe care mâinile Tale l-au întemeiat, Doamne!
18 Şi Domnul(AM) va împărăţi în veac şi în veci de veci.
19 Căci caii(AN) lui Faraon, carele şi călăreţii lui au intrat în mare,
Şi Domnul(AO) a adus peste ei apele mării;
Dar copiii lui Israel au mers ca pe uscat prin mijlocul mării.”
20 Maria(AP), prorociţa(AQ), sora lui Aaron, a(AR) luat în mână o timpană şi toate femeile au venit după ea cu(AS) timpane şi jucând.
21 Maria răspundea(AT) copiilor lui Israel(AU): „Cântaţi Domnului, căci Şi-a arătat slava:
A năpustit în mare pe cal şi pe călăreţ.”
Apele de la Mara
22 Moise a pornit pe Israel de la Marea Roşie. Au apucat înspre pustia(AV) Şur şi, după trei zile de mers în pustie, n-au găsit apă. 23 Au ajuns la(AW) Mara, dar n-au putut să bea apă din Mara, pentru că era amară. De aceea, locul acela a fost numit Mara (Amărăciune). 24 Poporul a cârtit(AX) împotriva lui Moise, zicând: „Ce avem să bem?” 25 Moise a strigat(AY) către Domnul, şi Domnul i-a arătat un lemn, pe care l-a aruncat(AZ) în apă. Şi apa s-a făcut dulce. Acolo a dat Domnul(BA) poporului legi şi porunci şi acolo l-a pus la(BB) încercare. 26 El a zis: „Dacă(BC) vei asculta cu luare-aminte glasul Domnului, Dumnezeului tău, dacă vei face ce este bine înaintea Lui, dacă vei asculta de poruncile Lui şi dacă vei păzi toate legile Lui, nu te voi lovi cu niciuna din bolile(BD) cu care am lovit pe egipteni, căci Eu sunt Domnul(BE), care te vindecă.” 27 Au ajuns la(BF) Elim, unde erau douăsprezece izvoare de apă şi şaptezeci de finici. Şi au tăbărât acolo, lângă apă.

The Song of Moses
15 (A)Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord:
“I will sing to the Lord, because he has won a glorious victory;
he has thrown the horses and their riders into the sea.
2 (B)The Lord is my strong defender;
he is the one who has saved me.
He is my God, and I will praise him,
my father's God, and I will sing about his greatness.
3 The Lord is a warrior;
the Lord is his name.
4 “He threw Egypt's army and its chariots into the sea;
the best of its officers were drowned in the Red Sea.
5 The deep sea covered them;
they sank to the bottom like a stone.
6 “Your right hand, Lord, is awesome in power;
it breaks the enemy in pieces.
7 In majestic triumph you overthrow your foes;
your anger blazes out and burns them up like straw.
8 You blew on the sea and the water piled up high;
it stood up straight like a wall;
the deepest part of the sea became solid.
9 The enemy said, ‘I will pursue them and catch them;
I will divide their wealth and take all I want;
I will draw my sword and take all they have.’
10 But one breath from you, Lord, and the Egyptians were drowned;
they sank like lead in the terrible water.
11 “Lord, who among the gods is like you?
Who is like you, wonderful in holiness?
Who can work miracles and mighty acts like yours?
12 You stretched out your right hand,
and the earth swallowed our enemies.
13 Faithful to your promise, you led the people you had rescued;
by your strength you guided them to your sacred land.
14 The nations have heard, and they tremble with fear;
the Philistines are seized with terror.
15 The leaders of Edom are terrified;
Moab's mighty men are trembling;
the people of Canaan lose their courage.
16 Terror and dread fall upon them.
They see your strength, O Lord,
and stand helpless with fear
until your people have marched past—
the people you set free from slavery.
17 You bring them in and plant them on your mountain,
the place that you, Lord, have chosen for your home,
the Temple that you yourself have built.
18 You, Lord, will be king forever and ever.”
The Song of Miriam
19 The Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground. But when the Egyptian chariots with their horses and drivers went into the sea, the Lord brought the water back, and it covered them.
20 The prophet Miriam, Aaron's sister, took her tambourine, and all the women followed her, playing tambourines and dancing. 21 Miriam sang for them:
“Sing to the Lord, because he has won a glorious victory;
he has thrown the horses and their riders into the sea.”
Bitter Water
22 Then Moses led the people of Israel away from the Red Sea into the desert of Shur. For three days they walked through the desert, but found no water. 23 Then they came to a place called Marah, but the water there was so bitter that they could not drink it. That is why it was named Marah.[a] 24 The people complained to Moses and asked, “What are we going to drink?” 25 (C)Moses prayed earnestly to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood, which he threw into the water; and the water became fit to drink.
There the Lord gave them laws to live by, and there he also tested them. 26 He said, “If you will obey me completely by doing what I consider right and by keeping my commands, I will not punish you with any of the diseases that I brought on the Egyptians. I am the Lord, the one who heals you.”
27 Next they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees; there they camped by the water.

The horse and its rider
He has thrown into the sea!

And He has become my salvation;
He is my God, and (E)I will praise Him;
My (F)father’s God, and I (G)will exalt Him.
3 The Lord is a man of (H)war;
The Lord is His (I)name.
4 (J)Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea;
(K)His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea.
5 The depths have covered them;
(L)They sank to the bottom like a stone.
6 “Your (M)right hand, O Lord, has become glorious in power;
Your right hand, O Lord, has dashed the enemy in pieces.
7 And in the greatness of Your (N)excellence
You have overthrown those who rose against You;
You sent forth (O)Your wrath;
It (P)consumed them (Q)like stubble.
8 And (R)with the blast of Your nostrils
The waters were gathered together;
(S)The floods stood upright like a heap;
The depths [a]congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 (T)The enemy said, ‘I will pursue,
I will overtake,
I will (U)divide the spoil;
My desire shall be satisfied on them.
I will draw my sword,
My hand shall destroy them.’
10 You blew with Your wind,
The sea covered them;
They sank like lead in the mighty waters.
11 “Who(V) is like You, O Lord, among the [b]gods?
Who is like You, (W)glorious in holiness,
Fearful in (X)praises, (Y)doing wonders?
12 You stretched out Your right hand;
The earth swallowed them.
13 You in Your mercy have (Z)led forth
The people whom You have redeemed;
You have guided them in Your strength
To (AA)Your holy habitation.
14 “The (AB)people will hear and be afraid;
(AC)Sorrow[c] will take hold of the inhabitants of Philistia.
15 (AD)Then (AE)the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed;
(AF)The mighty men of Moab,
Trembling will take hold of them;
(AG)All the inhabitants of Canaan will (AH)melt away.
16 (AI)Fear and dread will fall on them;
By the greatness of Your arm
They will be (AJ)as still as a stone,
Till Your people pass over, O Lord,
Till the people pass over
(AK)Whom You have purchased.
17 You will bring them in and (AL)plant them
In the (AM)mountain of Your inheritance,
In the place, O Lord, which You have made
For Your own dwelling,
The (AN)sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.
18 “The(AO) Lord shall reign forever and ever.”
19 For the (AP)horses of Pharaoh went with his chariots and his horsemen into the sea, and (AQ)the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them. But the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
The Song of Miriam(AR)
20 Then Miriam (AS)the prophetess, (AT)the sister of Aaron, (AU)took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her (AV)with timbrels and with dances. 21 And Miriam (AW)answered them:
(AX)“Sing to the Lord,
For He has triumphed gloriously!
The horse and its rider
He has thrown into the sea!”
Bitter Waters Made Sweet
22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea; then they went out into the Wilderness of (AY)Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no (AZ)water. 23 Now when they came to (BA)Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called [d]Marah. 24 And the people (BB)complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” 25 So he cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree. (BC)When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet.
There He (BD)made a statute and an [e]ordinance for them, and there (BE)He tested them, 26 and said, (BF)“If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the (BG)diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord (BH)who heals you.”
27 (BI)Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees; so they camped there by the waters.

and the sea covered them.

Who is like you—

12 “You stretch out(AF) your right hand,

By the power of your arm

the place, Lord, you made for your dwelling,(AY)

19 When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen[e] went into the sea,(BB) the Lord brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.(BC) 20 Then Miriam(BD) the prophet,(BE) Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels(BF) and dancing.(BG) 21 Miriam sang(BH) to them:
“Sing to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver(BI)
he has hurled into the sea.”(BJ)
The Waters of Marah and Elim
22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert(BK) of Shur.(BL) For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water.(BM) 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.[f](BN)) 24 So the people grumbled(BO) against Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?”(BP)
25 Then Moses cried out(BQ) to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw(BR) it into the water, and the water became fit to drink.
There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test.(BS) 26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep(BT) all his decrees,(BU) I will not bring on you any of the diseases(BV) I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals(BW) you.”
27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped(BX) there near the water.
