⁴ Then the king of Egypt said to them, “Moses and Aaron, why do you take the people from their work? Get back to your ^(A)labor.”

¹¹ Therefore they set taskmasters over them ^(A)to afflict them with their ^(B)burdens. And they built for Pharaoh ^(C)supply cities, Pithom ^(D)and Raamses.

^5 (A)For we have found this man a plague, a creator of dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.

² And they began to ^(A)accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow ^(B)perverting ^[a]the nation, and ^(C)forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying ^(D)that He Himself is Christ, a King.”

Amaziah’s Complaint

¹⁰ Then Amaziah the ^(A)priest of ^(B)Bethel sent to ^(C)Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to ^[a]bear all his words.

²⁰ And they brought them to the magistrates, and said, “These men, being Jews, ^(A)exceedingly trouble our city; ²¹ and they teach customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or observe.”

⁴ Therefore the princes said to the king, “Please, ^(A)let this man be put to death, for thus he ^[a]weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man does not seek the ^[b]welfare of this people, but their harm.”
