¹⁴ Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, “What of your brother Aaron, the Levite? I know that he can speak well; even now he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you his heart will be glad.^(A)

¹³ So he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him, ¹⁴ and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ ¹⁵ He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”

⁷ But God was displeased with this thing, and he struck Israel.

²⁷ The Lord said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So he went, and he met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.^(A)

Timothy’s Encouraging Report

⁶ But Timothy has just now come to us from you and has brought us the good news of your faith and love. He has told us also that you always remember us kindly and long to see us, just as we long to see you.^{(A) 7} For this reason, brothers and sisters, during all our distress and persecution we have been encouraged about you through your faith.

²¹ All of them are seeking their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.^(A)

⁶ But God, who consoles the downcast, consoled us by the arrival of Titus,^{(A) 7} and not only by his arrival but also by the consolation with which he was consoled about you, as he told us of your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced still more.

¹³ but my mind could not rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I said farewell to them and went on to Macedonia.

²⁸ For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to impose on you no further burden than these essentials:

⁵⁹ To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”^{(A) 60} And Jesus^[a] said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
