⁸ He made the basin of bronze with its stand of bronze, from the mirrors of the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.^(A)

³⁷ then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped there with fasting and prayer night and day.^(A)

Prophecy against Eli’s Household

²² Now Eli was very old. He heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel and how they lay with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.^(A)

⁷ and place the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it.

⁵ he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water^[a] of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.^{(A) 6} This Spirit he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

⁵ The real widow, left alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day,^(A)

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, “One who has bathed does not need to wash, except for the feet,^[a] but is entirely clean. And you^[b] are clean, though not all of you.”

13 On that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.^(A)

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
