²³ then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen.”^(A)

¹⁸ No one has ever seen God. It is the only Son, himself God, who^[a] is close to the Father’s heart,^[b] who has made him known.^(A)

²⁰ But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one shall see me and live.”^(A)

¹⁶ It is he alone who has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see; to him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.^(A)

¹² For now we see only a reflection, as in a mirror, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.^(A)
