¹¹ So ^(A)the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but ^(B)his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.

¹⁰ But since then there ^(A)has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, ^(B)whom the Lord knew face to face,

⁹ And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord ^(A)talked with Moses.

¹³ So Moses arose with ^(A)his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up to the mountain of God.

^4 (A)The Lord talked with you face to face on the mountain from the midst of the fire.

³⁰ So Jacob called the name of the place ^[a]Peniel: “For ^(A)I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

^14 (A)You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. ¹⁵ No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, ^(B)for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

²³ And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ^(A)“Abraham believed God, and it was ^[a]accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called ^(B)the friend of God.
