¹⁵ Work shall be done for ^(A)six days, but the ^(B)seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

^2 (A)And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

The Sabbath

^3 (A)‘Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.

²³ Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow is ^(A)a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning.’ ”

^21 (A)“Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.

⁵⁶ Then they returned and ^(A)prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath ^(B)according to the commandment.

¹⁴ But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had ^(A)healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, ^(B)“There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and ^(C)not on the Sabbath day.”

²⁴ “And it shall be, ^(A)if you heed Me carefully,” says the Lord, “to bring no burden through the gates of this city on the ^(B)Sabbath day, but hallow the Sabbath day, to do no work in it, ^25 (C)then shall enter the gates of this city kings and princes sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, accompanied by the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city shall remain forever. ²⁶ And they shall come from the cities of Judah and from ^(D)the places around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin and from ^(E)the ^[a]lowland, from the mountains and from ^(F)the ^[b]South, bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and incense, bringing ^(G)sacrifices of praise to the house of the Lord.

²⁷ “But if you will not heed Me to hallow the Sabbath day, such as not carrying a burden when entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then ^(H)I will kindle a fire in its gates, ^(I)and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be ^(J)quenched.” ’ ”

² Work shall be done for ^(A)six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to ^(B)death.
