^2 (A)And ^(B)the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.

¹⁸ Now ^(A)Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and ^(B)the whole mountain trembled greatly.

^38 (A)Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. ³⁹ And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, ^(B)“The Lord, he is God; the Lord, he is God.”

²⁷ And ^(A)upward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were ^(B)gleaming metal, like the appearance of fire enclosed all around. And downward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and ^(C)there was brightness around him.^[a]
