¹⁷ and I have said ^(A)I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.” ’

²⁴ And Joseph said to his brethren, “I am dying; but ^(A)God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land ^(B)of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”

¹³ Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly ^(A)that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and ^(B)they will afflict them four hundred years. ¹⁴ And also the nation whom they serve ^(C)I will judge; afterward ^(D)they shall come out with great possessions. ¹⁵ Now as for you, ^(E)you shall ^[a]go ^(F)to your fathers in peace; ^(G)you shall be buried at a good old age. ¹⁶ But ^(H)in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity ^(I)of the Amorites ^(J)is not yet complete.”

¹⁷ And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that ^(K)passed between those pieces. ¹⁸ On the same day the Lord ^(L)made a covenant with Abram, saying:

^(M)“To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— ¹⁹ the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, ²⁰ the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, ²¹ the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

¹¹ Then ^(A)you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho. And ^(B)the men of Jericho fought against you—also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. But I delivered them into your hand.

⁸ So ^(A)I have come down to ^(B)deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land ^(C)to a good and large land, to a land ^(D)flowing with milk and honey, to the place of ^(E)the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. ⁹ Now therefore, behold, ^(F)the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the ^(G)oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.

²³ Now it happened ^(A)in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel ^(B)groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and ^(C)their cry came up to God because of the bondage. ²⁴ So God ^(D)heard their groaning, and God ^(E)remembered His ^(F)covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. ²⁵ And God ^(G)looked upon the children of Israel, and God ^(H)acknowledged them.

^4 (A)I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely ^(B)bring you up again; and ^(C)Joseph ^[a]will put his hand on your eyes.”
