¹¹ But Moses said to God, “Who am I^(A) that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

¹⁸ But David said to Saul, “Who am I,^(A) and what is my family or my clan in Israel, that I should become the king’s son-in-law?^(B)”

⁵ Not that we are competent in ourselves^(A) to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.^(B)

¹² But Moses said to the Lord, “If the Israelites will not listen^(A) to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips^[a]?”^(B)

⁶ “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak;^(A) I am too young.”^(B)

¹⁶ To the one we are an aroma that brings death;^(A) to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?^(B)

⁵ “Woe^(A) to me!” I cried. “I am ruined!^(B) For I am a man of unclean lips,^(C) and I live among a people of unclean lips,^(D) and my eyes have seen^(E) the King,^(F) the Lord Almighty.”^(G)

⁶ Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal^(H) in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. ⁷ With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips;^(I) your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.^(J)”

⁸ Then I heard the voice^(K) of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?^(L) And who will go for us?^(M)”

And I said, “Here am I.^(N) Send me!”

⁹ So give your servant a discerning^(A) heart to govern your people and to distinguish^(B) between right and wrong. For who is able^(C) to govern this great people of yours?”

⁷ “Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child^(A) and do not know how to carry out my duties.
