¹¹ But Moses said to God, ^(A)“Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

¹⁸ And David said to Saul, ^(A)“Who am I, and who are my relatives, my father's clan in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?”

^5 (A)Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but ^(B)our sufficiency is from God,

¹² But Moses said to the Lord, “Behold, the people of Israel have ^(A)not listened to me. How then shall Pharaoh listen to me, for ^(B)I am of uncircumcised lips?”

⁶ Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, ^(A)I do not know how to speak, ^(B)for I am only a youth.”

^16 (A)to one a fragrance from death to death, ^(B)to the other a fragrance from life to life. ^(C)Who is sufficient for these things?

⁵ And I said: “Woe is me! ^(A)For I am lost; ^(B)for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the ^(C)King, the Lord of hosts!”

⁶ Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. ⁷ And he ^(D)touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

Isaiah's Commission from the Lord

⁸ And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for ^(E)us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

^9 (A)Give your servant therefore an understanding mind ^(B)to govern your people, that I may ^(C)discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”

⁷ And now, O Lord my God, ^(A)you have made your servant king in place of David my father, ^(B)although I am but a little child. I do not know ^(C)how to go out or come in.
