The Burning Bush
3 Now Moses was pasturing the flock of (A)Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the [a]west side of the wilderness and came to (B)Horeb, the (C)mountain of God. 2 (D)The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of [b]a (E)bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed. 3 So Moses said, “[c](F)I must turn aside now and see this [d]marvelous sight, why the bush is not burned up.” 4 When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, (G)God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

27 Then Pharaoh [a](A)sent for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “(B)I have sinned this time; the Lord is the righteous one, and I and my people are the wicked ones. 28 (C)Make supplication to the Lord, for there has been enough of God’s [b]thunder and hail; and (D)I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.” 29 Moses said to him, “As soon as I go out of the city, I will (E)spread out my [c]hands to the Lord; the [d]thunder will cease and there will be hail no longer, that you may know that (F)the earth is the Lord’s. 30 (G)But as for you and your servants, I know that (H)you do not yet [e]fear [f]the Lord God.” 31 (Now the flax and the (I)barley were [g]ruined, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud. 32 But the wheat and the spelt were not [h]ruined, for they ripen late.) 33 (J)So Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread out his [i]hands to the Lord; and the [j]thunder and the hail ceased, and rain [k]no longer poured on the earth. 34 But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the [l]thunder had ceased, he sinned again and [m]hardened his heart, he and his servants. 35 Pharaoh’s heart was [n]hardened, and he did not let the sons of Israel go, just as the (K)Lord had spoken through Moses.
