¹² Take some of the bull’s blood and put it on the horns^(A) of the altar with your finger, and pour out the rest of it at the base of the altar.^(B)

² Make a horn^(A) at each of the four corners, so that the horns and the altar are of one piece, and overlay the altar with bronze.

⁹ His sons brought the blood to him,^(A) and he dipped his finger into the blood and put it on the horns of the altar; the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.^(B)

¹⁵ Moses slaughtered the bull and took some of the blood,^(A) and with his finger he put it on all the horns of the altar^(B) to purify the altar.^(C) He poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. So he consecrated it to make atonement for it.^(D)

² It is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high^[a]—its horns^(A) of one piece with it.

⁴ It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats^(A) to take away sins.^(B)

²² In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood,^(A) and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.^(B)

¹³ The blood of goats and bulls^(A) and the ashes of a heifer^(B) sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. ¹⁴ How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit^(C) offered himself^(D) unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences^(E) from acts that lead to death,^[a](F) so that we may serve the living God!^(G)

¹⁸ “Then he shall come out to the altar^(A) that is before the Lord and make atonement for it. He shall take some of the bull’s blood and some of the goat’s blood and put it on all the horns of the altar.^{(B) 19} He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times to cleanse it and to consecrate it from the uncleanness of the Israelites.^(C)
