The Altar of Burnt Offering^(A)

27 “You shall make ^(B)an altar of acacia wood, five cubits long and five cubits wide—the altar shall be square—and its height shall be three cubits.

Making the Altar of Burnt Offering^(A)

38 He made ^(B)the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood; five cubits was its length and five cubits its width—it was square—and its height was three cubits. ² He made its horns on its four corners; the horns were of one piece with it. And he overlaid it with bronze. ³ He made all the utensils for the altar: the pans, the shovels, the basins, the forks, and the firepans; all its utensils he made of bronze. ⁴ And he made a grate of bronze network for the altar, under its rim, midway from the bottom. ⁵ He cast four rings for the four corners of the bronze grating, as holders for the poles. ⁶ And he made the poles of acacia wood, and overlaid them with bronze. ⁷ Then he put the poles into the rings on the sides of the altar, with which to bear it. He made the altar hollow with boards.

¹⁰ We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.

Dimensions of the Altar

¹³ “These are the measurements of the ^(A)altar in cubits ^(B)(the ^[a]cubit is one cubit and a handbreadth): the base one cubit high and one cubit wide, with a rim all around its edge of one span. This is the height of the altar: ¹⁴ from the base on the ground to the lower ledge, two cubits; the width of the ledge, one cubit; from the smaller ledge to the larger ledge, four cubits; and the width of the ledge, one cubit. ¹⁵ The altar hearth is four cubits high, with four ^(C)horns extending upward from the ^[b]hearth. ¹⁶ The altar hearth is twelve cubits long, twelve wide, ^(D)square at its four corners; ¹⁷ the ledge, fourteen cubits long and fourteen wide on its four sides, with a rim of half a cubit around it; its base, one cubit all around; and ^(E)its steps face toward the east.”

Furnishings of the Temple^(A)

4 Moreover he made ^(B)a bronze altar: twenty cubits was its length, twenty cubits its width, and ten cubits its height.

The Altar on the Threshing Floor^(A)

¹⁸ And Gad came that day to David and said to him, ^(B)“Go up, erect an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”

^29 (A)And he put the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and ^(B)offered upon it the burnt offering and the grain offering, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

¹⁰ You shall ^(A)anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar. ^(B)The altar shall be most holy.

⁴ And Moses ^(A)wrote all the words of the Lord. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve ^(B)pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
