⁸ “Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them.

¹⁶ And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:

¹³ I will live among the Israelites and will never abandon my people Israel.”

³ I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.^[a]

⁴⁵ Then I will live among the people of Israel and be their God,

Old Rules about Worship

9 That first covenant between God and Israel had regulations for worship and a place of worship here on earth. ² There were two rooms in that Tabernacle.^[a] In the first room were a lampstand, a table, and sacred loaves of bread on the table. This room was called the Holy Place.

¹⁰ The Lord says, “Shout and rejoice, O beautiful Jerusalem,^[a] for I am coming to live among you.

⁶ But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ.^[a]

³ “And now the Lord says: I am returning to Mount Zion, and I will live in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City; the mountain of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will be called the Holy Mountain.
