³⁷ You shall make seven lamps for it, and the lamps shall be set up so as to give light on the space in front of it.^(A)

² “Speak to Aaron and say to him: When you set up the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.”^(A)

²⁰ As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.^(A)

The Message to Ephesus

2 “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands:

¹² Then I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands,^(A)

² He said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a lampstand all of gold, with a bowl on the top of it; there are seven lamps on it, with seven lips on each of the lamps that are on the top of it.^(A)

¹¹ They offer to the Lord every morning and every evening burnt offerings and fragrant incense, set out the rows of bread on the table of pure gold, and care for the golden lampstand so that its lamps may burn every evening, for we keep the charge of the Lord our God, but you have abandoned him.^(A)

² “Command the Israelites to bring you pure oil of beaten olives for the lamp, that a light may be kept burning regularly.^{(A) 3} Aaron shall set it up in the tent of meeting, outside the curtain of the covenant, to burn from evening to morning before the Lord regularly; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. ⁴ He shall set up the lamps on the lampstand of pure gold^[a] before the Lord regularly.^(B)

²¹ In the tent of meeting, outside the curtain that is before the covenant, Aaron and his sons shall tend it from evening to morning before the Lord. It shall be a perpetual ordinance to be observed throughout their generations by the Israelites.^(A)

⁵ And there will be no more night; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.^(A)

²³ And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb.^{(A) 24} The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.^{(B) 25} Its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there.^(C)
