⁴ Moses then wrote^(A) down everything the Lord had said.

He got up early the next morning and built an altar^(B) at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars^(C) representing the twelve tribes of Israel.

Public Reading of the Law

⁹ So Moses wrote^(A) down this law and gave it to the Levitical priests, who carried^(B) the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.

¹⁸ Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head^(A) and set it up as a pillar^(B) and poured oil on top of it.^(C)

¹⁴ The wall of the city had twelve foundations,^(A) and on them were the names of the twelve apostles^(B) of the Lamb.

⁹ James,^(A) Cephas^[a](B) and John, those esteemed as pillars,^(C) gave me and Barnabas^(D) the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me.^(E) They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles,^(F) and they to the circumcised.

³⁰ so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom^(A) and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.^(B)

⁸ So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones^(A) from the middle of the Jordan,^(B) according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the Lord had told Joshua;^(C) and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down. ⁹ Joshua set up the twelve stones^(D) that had been^[a] in the middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant had stood. And they are there to this day.^(E)

¹⁷ For the dedication of this house of God they offered^(A) a hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred male lambs and, as a sin offering^[a] for all Israel, twelve male goats, one for each of the tribes of Israel.

³⁰ and Ahijah took hold of the new cloak he was wearing and tore^(A) it into twelve pieces.
