⁴ And ^(A)Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve ^(B)pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

The Reading of the Law

⁹ Then Moses ^(A)wrote this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, ^(B)who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.

¹⁸ So early in the morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up ^(A)for a pillar ^(B)and poured oil on the top of it.

¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve ^(A)foundations, and ^(B)on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

⁹ and when James and Cephas and John, ^(A)who seemed to be ^(B)pillars, perceived the ^(C)grace that was given to me, they ^(D)gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

^30 (A)that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and ^(B)sit on thrones judging ^(C)the twelve tribes of Israel.

⁸ And the people of Israel did just as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, just as the Lord told Joshua. And they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged and laid them down^[a] there. ⁹ And Joshua set up^[b] twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, ^(A)in the place where the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant had stood; and they are there to this day.

¹⁷ They offered at the dedication of this house of God 100 bulls, 200 rams, 400 lambs, and as a sin offering for all Israel ^(A)12 male goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

³⁰ Then Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, ^(A)and tore it into twelve pieces.

²⁶ And Joshua ^(A)wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And ^(B)he took a large stone and set it up there ^(C)under the terebinth that was by the sanctuary of the Lord. ²⁷ And Joshua said to all the people, “Behold, ^(D)this stone shall be a witness against us, for ^(E)it has heard all the words of the Lord that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God.”
