⁹ “Also ^(A)you shall not oppress a ^[a]stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

^19 (A)‘Cursed is the one who perverts the justice due the stranger, the fatherless, and widow.’

“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’

^21 (A)“You shall neither mistreat a ^[a]stranger nor oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

¹⁷ Therefore, in all things He had ^(A)to be made like His brethren, that He might be ^(B)a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. ^18 (C)For in that He Himself has suffered, being ^[a]tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

³³ Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’

⁷ In you they have ^(A)made light of father and mother; in your midst they have ^(B)oppressed the stranger; in you they have mistreated the ^[a]fatherless and the widow.

¹⁴ “You shall not ^(A)oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether one of your brethren or one of the aliens who is in your land within your gates. ¹⁵ Each day ^(B)you shall give him his wages, and not let the sun go down on it, for he is poor and has set his heart on it; ^(C)lest he cry out against you to the Lord, and it be sin to you.

^16 (D)“Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; a person shall be put to death for his own sin.

^17 (E)“You shall not pervert justice due the stranger or the fatherless, ^(F)nor take a widow’s garment as a pledge. ¹⁸ But ^(G)you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing.

¹⁹ Therefore love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

²¹ Notwithstanding, if he remains alive a day or two, he shall not be punished; for he is his ^(A)property.
