²³ My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites,^(A) and I will wipe them out.

God’s Angel to Prepare the Way

²⁰ “See, I am sending an angel^(A) ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.^(B)

² When Shechem^(A) son of Hamor^(B) the Hivite,^(C) the ruler of that area, saw her, he took her and raped her.^(D)

¹⁹ the land of the Kenites,^(A) Kenizzites, Kadmonites, ²⁰ Hittites,^(B) Perizzites,^(C) Rephaites,^{(D) 21} Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.”^(E)

² Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings^(A) that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.”

¹⁷ And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt^(A) into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’^(B)

⁸ “‘I brought you to the land of the Amorites^(A) who lived east of the Jordan. They fought against you, but I gave them into your hands. I destroyed them from before you, and you took possession of their land.^{(B) 9} When Balak son of Zippor,^(C) the king of Moab, prepared to fight against Israel, he sent for Balaam son of Beor^(D) to put a curse on you.^{(E) 10} But I would not listen to Balaam, so he blessed you^(F) again and again, and I delivered you out of his hand.

¹¹ “‘Then you crossed the Jordan^(G) and came to Jericho.^(H) The citizens of Jericho fought against you, as did also the Amorites, Perizzites,^(I) Canaanites, Hittites, Girgashites, Hivites and Jebusites,^(J) but I gave them into your hands.^(K)
