⁵ But if the slave declares, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out a free person,’

¹⁴ For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died.^{(A) 15} And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves but for the one who for their sake died and was raised.

¹⁶ But if he says to you, ‘I will not go out from you,’ because he loves you and your household, since he is well off with you,^{(A) 17} then you shall take an awl and thrust it through his earlobe into the door, and he shall be your slave forever.
