Mark 7:5-13
English Standard Version
5 And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to (A)the tradition of (B)the elders, (C)but eat with (D)defiled hands?” 6 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you (E)hypocrites, as it is written,
(F)“‘This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
7 in vain do they worship me,
teaching as (G)doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”
9 And he said to them, “You have a fine way of (H)rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! 10 For Moses said, (I)‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, (J)‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ 11 But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”’ (that is, given to God)[a]— 12 then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, 13 thus (K)making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.”

Retaliation
38 (A)“You have heard that it was said, (B)‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, (C)Do not resist the one who is evil. But (D)if anyone (E)slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And (F)if anyone would sue you and take your tunic,[a] let him have your cloak as well. 41 And if anyone (G)forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42 (H)Give to the one who begs from you, and (I)do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.
Love Your Enemies
43 (J)“You have heard that it was said, (K)‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, (L)Love your enemies and (M)pray for those who persecute you, 45 (N)so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and (O)sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Acts 23:1-5

23 And looking intently at the council, Paul said, “Brothers, (A)I have lived my life before God in all good conscience up to this day.” 2 And the high priest (B)Ananias commanded those who stood by him (C)to strike him on the mouth. 3 Then Paul said to him, “God is going to strike you, you (D)whitewashed (E)wall! Are you sitting to judge me according to the law, and yet (F)contrary to the law you (G)order me to be struck?” 4 Those who stood by said, “Would you revile (H)God's high priest?” 5 And Paul said, (I)“I did not know, brothers, that he was the high priest, for it is written, (J)‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’”
