²² Even the priests who approach the Lord must consecrate themselves, or the Lord will break out against them.”^(A)

⁵ He sent young men of the Israelites, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed oxen as offerings of well-being to the Lord.

³⁰ For this reason many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.^{[a] 31} But if we judged ourselves, we would not be judged.^{(A) 32} But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined^[b] so that we may not be condemned along with the world.^(B)

¹⁰ Immediately she fell down at his feet and died. When the young men came in they found her dead, so they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

⁵ Now when Ananias heard these words, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard of it.

¹⁸ For a multitude of the people, many of them from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover contrary to what was prescribed. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, “May the good Lord pardon all^{(A) 19} who set their hearts to seek God, the Lord the God of their ancestors, even though not in accordance with the sanctuary’s rules of cleanness.”^(B)

¹⁵ They slaughtered the Passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. The priests and the Levites were ashamed, and they sanctified themselves and brought burnt offerings into the house of the Lord.^(A)

³ (for they could not keep it at its proper time because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, nor had the people assembled in Jerusalem).^(A)

¹³ Because you did not carry it^[a] the first time,^[b] the Lord our God burst out against us because we did not give it proper care.”^(A)
