⁵ And the Lord said to Moses, “Pass on before the people, taking with you some of the elders of Israel, and take in your hand the staff with ^(A)which you struck the Nile, and go.

¹⁹ And the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and ^(A)stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, their canals, and their ponds, and all their pools of water, so that they may become blood, and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, even in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’”

²⁰ Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded. In the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants he ^(B)lifted up the staff and struck the water in the Nile, and all the ^(C)water in the Nile turned into blood.

^8 (A)“Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water. So ^(B)you shall bring water out of the rock for them and give drink to the congregation and their cattle.” ⁹ And Moses took the staff ^(C)from before the Lord, as he commanded him.

Moses Strikes the Rock

¹⁰ Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, ^(D)“Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for you out of this rock?” ¹¹ And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice, ^(E)and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock.

²³ except that ^(A)the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that ^(B)imprisonment and ^(C)afflictions await me. ²⁴ But ^(D)I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only ^(E)I may finish my course and ^(F)the ministry ^(G)that I received from the Lord Jesus, ^(H)to testify to ^(I)the gospel of ^(J)the grace of God.

⁶ And you, son of man, ^(A)be not afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, ^(B)though briers and thorns are with you and you sit on ^(C)scorpions.^[a] Be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.
