¹⁷ I will harden the hearts^(A) of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them.^(B) And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen.

⁸ The Lord hardened the heart^(A) of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly.^(B)

⁴ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart,^(A) and he will pursue them.^(B) But I will gain glory^(C) for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.”^(D) So the Israelites did this.

²⁰ “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says to them: See, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.^(A)

¹¹ “‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep^(A) and look after them.

³ and say: ‘You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys:^(A) I am about to bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.^(B)

⁸ “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself am against you, Jerusalem, and I will inflict punishment on you in the sight of the nations.^(A)
